Limiting Leakage Current to Below 5mA Through Resistance Control… “No Equipment Failure Even When Submerged”

A “leakage current control technology” that can prevent electric shock caused by leakage and equipment failure due to flooding was showcased at the 2024 International Electric Power Exhibition.

ITE’s leakage current control technology reduces the magnitude of leakage current by adjusting resistance, limiting it to below 5mA, a level at which electric shock to humans is impossible.

Hwang Gyu-hwan, General Manager at ITE, explained,
“Even when electrical devices are supplying power normally, users will not experience electric shock—even if the equipment becomes flooded or someone directly touches the wires.”

He added,
“This technology is essential for locations where water-related electric shock accidents may occur, as well as electrical facilities such as streetlights and outdoor signboards where leakage risks exist, and disaster-prevention equipment that must continue operating even when submerged.”

The exhibition was held from May 1 to May 3 at COEX in Samseong-dong.
